Track Layout and History

50 Years of History

Sunshine Speedway opened in Pinellas Park, Florida on January 23, 1960. The original owner developed the quarter-mile track on his 250 acre dairy farm. There is also an active dragstrip and a motocross facility associated with the Speedway property. In 2004, the stock car track closed but the dragstrip and motocross facility remained opened.

With over 1.5 miles of track and 50 years of history, Sunshine Motocross is the leading Bay Area Motocross track. The track, with its long history, has hosted such events as the 500cc National, the Florida Gold Cup, Florida Motocross Series, Florida Vintage Motocross Race, Florida Trail Riders, Sunshine State Quad Series, and Kenny Yoho’s I4 MX Series.

Track Layout

The motocross track is approximately 1.5 miles long.   The surface consists of clay, dirt and sand sections.  Lap times range from around 1 minute 40 seconds for professional riders to several minutes for others.  Our track is safe enough for a peewee or mini quad rider and challenging enough for pro level riders.  Track obstacles consists of whoops, flat and bowl turns, table top jumps, double and triple jumps, and a 100ft+ quad!  The track was originally designed by Dream Traxx.
